Mirzya Movie Review: This movie goes back and forth from the present era back into history. It follows the follows story of Mirzya-Sahiba in old times and Suchitra and Monish in today’s world.
“Mirzya” is based on the well-loved Punjab folktale of Mirza and Sahiba. Mirza-Sahiban is not only a well-loved folktale but there are other tragic romances of Punjab as well. They include Heer-Ranjha, Sohni-Mahiwal and Sassi-Punnun.
“Mirzya: Dare To Love…” The title is very fitting for this movie as it showcases these two love stories each with their own trials and struggles to overcome to remain together in love.
It then intermingles a love story from the present with a boy and a girl that went to school together. Suchitra played by Saiyami Kher and Monish played by Harshvardhan Kapoor. They are very close as children and care about each other very much. This is Harshvardhan Kapoor’s debut Bollywood film. Though he comes from a family of actors.
However, it is not meant to be for them to remain together. They are separated by life’s events and go separate ways.
An incident happens with Monish and he is sent away to a juvenile boy’s home for committing a horrible crime. While Suchitra’s is lead away from home by her father who arranges for her to go to school in London. So, she can continue her path of education and advance in society.
As time passes, the little girl Suchitra blossoms into a beautiful young lady. She is engaged to be married to a prince Karan played by Anuj Chaudhary.
In the meantime, Monish takes another name and changes not only his identity but his life. He is trying to escape his past and the incident that took not only his freedom but his childhood and even a life.
Many years later, Monish and Suchitra meet again. They meet in the place you would least expect them to meet, the prince’s palace. Well, not exactly the palace but the stables where Monish who is now calling himself Aadil.
Can Monish and Suchitra come back together again in the present and rekindle their long lost love? Or will Suchitra marry Karan the wealthy, handsome prince? Can Monish convince her father that he is the best choice for his daughter, though the marriage is already a given?
It seems like the memories of the incident that happened in the past when they were children resurfaces. Can she (Suchi) look beyond it and remember the boy she loved when she was younger?
Shot in and showcased the breath beauty of the Indian country Rajasthan. Featuring the beautiful work of cinematographer, Pawel Dyllus. Including, traditional Rajasthani clothing as well.
Harshavardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher also perform their own stunts in this movie.
This movie soundtrack and music is by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. A key number is when the modern song is mixed with the traditional folklore and story of Mirzya-Sahiba.
